Neither program has viruses, you get them from downloading files from strangers, which is what they both do. Whether you download a virus depends on which stranger you're downloading from, and you have no control over that. (IOW, you either pay for your music or you pay to fix or replace your computer. Free and safe isn't one of your choices.)
