WHAT did I SAY?? He totally changed his personality?

I was talking to this guy about him coming and spraying some stuff on my outside wall of my house & I asked if I should move my plants and he looked straight into my eyes & it was like he froze. He sat there for like 2 or 3 mins before he responded. Then when he did, he never looked away. He stared right into my eyes. My friend said I hypnotized him. Whatever! Did I say something crazy? I don't know anything about plants?
